What is Multiple Sclerosis ?
Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a chronic progressive incurable disease of the Central Nervous System, that affects its functioning unexpectedly and repeatedly, resulting in devastating disabilities in young people in the prime of their lives.

What is the MS Walk?
The MS Walk is an event that has been successfully used all around the world as a fund-raiser and a focal point to raise awareness about Multiple Sclerosis. The event is traditionally held over a fixed-length course, and MS afflicted persons, their families, friends, sponsors, and general public participate, pledging money for The MS Walk.

Pfizer supports and works closely with the Multiple Sclerosis Society of India .

Pfizer provides financial assistance, product donations in the form of vitamin supplements, as well as organizational assistance to MSSI.

The Walk was an outstanding success. Hundreds of people 'walked' the length of the racecourse in order to raise funds to carry out the work for patients with Multiple Sclerosis.

In a spontaneous display of support and solidarity to this noble cause, Pfizerites from all corners of Mumbai left the cozy comforts of their homes on a Saturday morning, and gathered at the race course.

About The Multiple Sclerosis Society of India (MSSI) :

The Multiple Sclerosis Society of India was established in 1985. The society is dedicated to minimizing the effects of Multiple Sclerosis, both on patients and their families, by aiding and assisting them in coping with the disease and meeting the challenges of daily living. The society is also actively involved in raising awareness about the disease.

Since this crippler disease starts in young adulthood and is not a killer, the patient lives a normal span of life but may slowly become more and more disabled. The whole family of an MS patient gets affected financially, physically and emotionally for many years. The Society tries to lighten some of this burden by providing various services like home based physiotherapy, counseling for the newly diagnosed patients and their families, organizing Free Medical Camps, Seminars, Workshops and Recreational Programs, medical reimbursements to needy persons, providing aids and equipment like wheelchairs, walkers etc.

There are 40,000 – 50,000 estimated cases in India. MSSI has 8 chapters in India and is affiliated to MS International Federation.
